Mit Dr. Wayne Modest wird die Lecture Series fortgesetzt, die mit Richard Sandell und Jocelyn Dodd 2015 begonnen hat. Wayne Modest spricht zu folgendem Thema (auf Englisch): Ethnographic Museums, Anxiety Politics and the question of the Postcolonial in Europe?
Wayne Modest is the Head of the Curatorial Department at the Tropenmuseum. He was previously the Keeper of Anthropology at the Horniman Museums and Gardens in London and Director of the Museums of History and Ethnography in Kingston, Jamaica, and has held visiting research fellowships at the Yale Centre for British Art, Yale University and the School for Museums Studies, New York University.
Im Anschluss an den Vortrag findet eine Diskussion mit Wayne Modest sowie Heike Hartmann und Sebastian Gottschalk, KuratorInnen der Ausstellung „Deutscher Kolonialismus. Fragmente seiner Geschichte und Gegenwart“ (Deutsches Historisches Museum) statt, in der auch ethnographische Sammlungen auf ihre Verbindungen zum deutschen Kolonialismus hin befragt wurden. Wir empfehlen allen Interessierten, die Ausstellung vorher zu besuchen.
